World famous K J Scott was born and raised in the small town of Chehalis, Washington and has always enjoyed writing. She started a book club with her best friend Kim (the two girls were the only members) when she was 11 years old. Kathy wrote her first novel in 1990 and put it away in a box. After moving several times, eventually landing back in her home town of Chehalis, she discovered the book while going through storage boxes. This book became The Deception of Tara Magee... the first book in her world famous Tara Magee series.
